In years past, the Shepherd of the Hills Garden Club maintained a Bluebird Trail at the Dewey Short Visitor’s Center, but due to circumstances beyond the Club’s control, the trail was abandoned in 2023.
Not wanting such an important conservation project to simply end, the Club decided to determine if there was interest on the part of the City of Branson Parks and Rec Dept. Welcomed with open arms by the City, The Bluebird Trail at Eiserman Park launched in April, 2024 with the installation of five nestboxes. A sixth nestbox was added in early 2026 to complete the Trail.
A project of this scope takes many hands to bring to fruition. Pictured below are a few photos taken over the years of volunteers and City staff installling and maintaining the six nestboxes currently in place.
The Eastern Bluebird is Missouri’s state bird. Although no longer on the endangered species list, this wasn’t always the case. Thanks to the efforts of individuals and conservation-minded groups like the Shepherd of the Hills Garden Club, the Eastern Bluebird population rebounded in a big way. We are doing our part to continue to continue the rebouund.

Club volunteers walk the Bluebird Trail every 10 days from early February to late September monitoring activity in the nestboxes. Annual reports are submitted to the Missouri Bluebird Society to be complied with reports from throughout Missouri on the status of the Nestboxes.
